Could Red Wax Be From a Previous Homeowner?
It could.
One of the funny things about houses is that we inherit traces of previous occupants without realizing it.
A previous owner may have:
- Used candles near the entrance
- Applied a decorative seal
- Marked hardware
- Performed a temporary repair
- Used colored wax for a project
If the wax looks old, dusty, cracked, faded, or partially covered by layers of paint or dirt, it may have been there much longer than you think.
